BI Developer - Cognos
BI Developer
Our client a leading company is looking for a BI Developer.
Qualifications and Requirements
ï‚· BS / MS degree in Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Information Technology or other related subject
ï‚· Knowledgeable in most aspects of Data Warehousing, designing and constructing data architectures, operational data stores, data modelling and data marts.
ï‚· Understanding of any ERP database and structure is an added advantage.
 Experience in SQL, MDX and creating API’s.
ï‚· Basic knowledge / database programming experience on Postgres, SQL Server and IBM.
ï‚· Experience with MS SQL Server and SQL Server Integration Services. ï‚· Good written and interpersonal communication skills
ï‚· Experience in FMCG & RETAIL industry is preferable ï‚· Experience in Python is an added advantage.
Responsibilities
ï‚· Configuration of all the suites of Cognos 11 BI products and setting up Content store database, Active directory configuration, and Mail exchange server.
ï‚· Configuring all the Cognos 11 BI Components, Framework Manager, Query Studio, Report Studio, Analysis Studio and LDAP directory server.
ï‚· Develop custom SQL reports within short period of time and validate Cognos reports using hand written SQL queries
ï‚· Setting up of the backups of all environments with backup and restoring of Content Store Databases, backups of Cognos Configurations, Deployment of Public Folders.
ï‚· Experience in Cognos 11 BI Framework Manager and experience in building the dimensional/relational Models using different data sources like IBM Db2 and SQL Server.
ï‚· Expertise with creating page breaks and Created complex reports using conditional formatting and cascading prompts multi list reports, static choice prompts and JavaScript.
ï‚· Extensively work on performance tuning for existing reports in Report Studio and Testing and improving Report Performance and performing Query optimization.
ï‚· Involved in importing and exporting of data from development to production using the deployment option in the Cognos connection portal.
ï‚· Thorough understanding of Cognos security configuration and implementation. Experience performing both minor and major Cognos version upgrades and patches.
ï‚· ETL work flows and mappings to extract, transform, and load data into target environments.
ï‚· Develop test plans and perform unit testing of own work.
ï‚· Create supporting documentation for new ETL processes.

ï‚· Identify opportunities for improving efficiency and effectiveness of processes and controls
ï‚· Use standard ETL tool sets to develop and test ETL work flows
ï‚· Determine impacts of data warehouse structures and information flows due to changes in business or technical requirements
ï‚· Perform root cause analysis and contribute to the remediation planning and implementation
ï‚· Perform data quality analysis, report data quality issues, and propose solutions for data quality management.
ï‚· Train and support Cognos end users (information consumers and power users)
